Tahini Sauce
After discovering delicious recipes for falafel, hummus, and hot sauce to recreate a Mediterranean feast at home inspired by my favorite restaurant, Pita Inn, I knew I needed a tasty tahini sauce to complete the meal. Enter Cookie + Kate’s recipe, aptly named the “Best Tahini Sauce”—and it truly lives up to the title!
Recipe Steps
If you’ve ever tried tahini straight from the jar, you know it’s not exactly bursting with flavor—I learned that the hard way. But this recipe transforms it into creamy, tangy perfection.
I prefer making it in a blender instead of a food processor for an ultra-smooth texture. I also like to customize it with extra garlic, lemon juice, and cold water to get the taste and consistency just right. Over time, or after refrigeration, the sauce tends to thicken. A teaspoon or two of cold water and a quick stir brings it back to the perfect texture. Bonus: it freezes beautifully, so you can have it ready for a quick, flavorful meal anytime!
In addition to being the perfect topping for a falafel sandwich or a dip for pita bread, tahini sauce makes a fantastic base for a flavorful Jerusalem Salad. Simply chop up some tomatoes, cucumbers, and parsley, then toss them with the tahini sauce for a delicious salad that’s perfect on its own or as a fresh, tangy addition to a falafel pita sandwich.
