Recipe Steps

Around 2010, my dear friend Margaret introduced me to this simple, delicious black bean salsa, which quickly became my go-to dish for gatherings. Everywhere I bring it, someone asks for the recipe! Over the years, I’ve added cumin, salt, and pepper to Margaret’s original version, and sometimes I swap in my homemade salsa instead of jarred. I don’t always add olive oil, either—it depends on the salsa’s thickness, but a bit of oil helps loosen it up if needed.

Ingredients needed for making Black Bean Salsa: black beans, cilantro, cumin, salsa, Cholula, olive oil, salt & pepper and a food processor to blend it all together.

These are 5 of the 6 main ingredients for the salsa, plus salt and pepper—though I forgot to include the olive oil in the photo! This is the fastest recipe to make in my repertoire.

Black Bean Salsa works great as a dip and is a perfect topping for tacos. Let me know your favorite way to enjoy it when you give it a try!
