With just three simple ingredients—semi-sweet chocolate morsels, heavy cream, and a splash of brandy—this rich and velvety fondue comes together in minutes. Pair it with fresh fruit, marshmallows, pretzels, or your favorite dippable treats for a crowd-pleasing dessert that’s as interactive as it is delicious.

Recipe Steps

I’ve been making this chocolate fondue recipe since 1997, and it never fails to impress. It’s a simple, quick recipe that tastes absolutely delicious. The secret? Using high-quality semi-sweet chocolate morsels—I personally prefer Ghirardelli. If you’d rather skip the alcohol, no problem! You can substitute a teaspoon or two of vanilla or almond extract. That said, the brandy adds a rich flavor that truly enhances the chocolate. To reduce the alcohol content, simply simmer the brandy in the cream for a few minutes before stirring in the chocolate.

Note: This recipe is naturally gluten-free. Stick with gluten-free dippables to keep it that way.

Three ingredients and two simple steps to make this delicious chocolate fondue in a pan on the stove.

One of the things I love most about this recipe is its versatility. You can make it ahead of time and easily reheat it in a pan or microwave before serving. I’ve even brought a fondue pot and Sterno to a picnic or outdoor concert to warm it up on the spot—nothing elevates an event quite like this decadent dessert!

Ingredients

  • 12x oz. package semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¾ C heavy cream
  • 2 Tbsps. brandy

Instructions

  • Heat the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium-low heat until it begins to simmer (do not boil).
  • Remove from heat, add the chocolate chips, and let sit for 1-2 minutes to allow the chocolate to melt. If the chocolate isn't fully melted, put it back on the stove over low heat and whisk until smooth and fully combined.
  • Mix in the brandy until fully incorporated. The brandy can be omitted but it adds a bit of extra flavor.
  • Serve warm with various fruit and salty snacks for dipping. Enjoy!
